Kota Doria fabric is a combination of cotton and silk woven in a square check pattern. The silk in it gives shine to the fabric whereas cotton gives strength. In addition, the checked pattern on it is known as 'Khat' which is the distinguishing element of Kota Doria.
Khadi Cotton is made from cotton, but it may also include silk or wool, which are all spun into yarn on a charkha. It is a versatile fabric that remains cool in summer and warm in winter. Moreover, to improve its appearance, khadi is sometimes starched to give it a stiffer feel. It is widely accepted in various fashion circles.
This saree is handcrafted in the villages of Santipur, West Bengal, India
