This Pure Cotton Handloom Saree is made using Ikat, a dying technique that dates back to the 12th century. It originated in the Patan region of Gujarat and spread to other parts of the world like South America and West Africa. "Ikat" comes from the Malay word "mengikat" which means to tie or bind. This technique uses silk or cotton fabrics and creates colorful, patterned cloth.
Handcrafted in West Bengal, India, the pure cotton handloom saree in the image is paired with a blouse from the stylist's collection. See the image for a mock-up of the actual blouse.
